Northeast India Bird Watching Tour — full itinerary

Arrive at Dimapur Airport, where you will be met by our representative. Begin your scenic drive towards Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. En route, take a short stop for a refreshing tea break before continuing the journey towards Khonoma Village, a historic Angami Naga village known for its rich cultural heritage and conservation traditions.

On arrival at Khonoma, check in to your hotel/homestay. Take some time to freshen up and relax after the journey. Enjoy dinner and retire for the evening.

Overnight: : Khonoma Homestay

After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day birding excursion in and around Khonoma, exploring its rich forests, hills, and surrounding natural habitats. Khonoma offers excellent opportunities for observing a variety of Himalayan and Northeast Indian bird species.

Spend the day birdwatching along selected trails and forest areas with opportunities for nature photography and wildlife observation. Return to the homestay in the evening and relax after a rewarding day in the field.

Overnight: Khonoma Homestay

After an early breakfast, begin a full-day birding activity in and around Khonoma. In the late afternoon, proceed towards Dzuleke Village for a short evening birding excursion. Explore selected areas around the village and its forested surroundings, enjoying the tranquil landscape and looking for some of the region’s characteristic birdlife.

Overnight: Khonoma Homestay

Start the journey early in the morning after a light breakfast and drive towards Jessami, a scenic and culturally significant village in eastern Nagaland. Enjoy the changing landscapes and beautiful mountain scenery along the route.

Arrive at Jessami in the evening and check in to your homestay. After a short rest, venture out for a brief evening birding session around the village and its surrounding habitats. This will provide an opportunity to observe local and forest bird species before dusk.

Return to the homestay and relax for the evening.

After an early breakfast, begin a full-day birding expedition in and around Jessami. Explore the surrounding forests, village trails, streams, and other suitable habitats, with ample opportunities for birdwatching, photography, and observing the diverse avifauna of the region.

Enjoy a packed lunch or local lunch during the birding excursion. Continue exploring different habitats throughout the day before returning to the homestay in the evening.

Spend the evening at leisure, relax, and prepare for the following day's journey.

Overnight: Jessami Homestay

Begin the day with an early morning birding session at Jessami, taking advantage of the best hours for bird activity. Explore the nearby forest trails and surrounding habitats before returning to the homestay for breakfast and freshening up.

After lunch, begin the drive back to Kohima. Enjoy the scenic journey through the hills and changing landscapes of Nagaland. Arrive in Kohima in the evening and check in to your hotel.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin the journey to Dimapur. Enjoy the scenic drive through the hills of Nagaland before arriving at Dimapur Airport in time to board your flight for your onward journey.
