Discover Nagaland — valleys, villages and heritage
Nagaland is 16 tribes, 16 languages and one compact hill state. From Kohima (capital, 1,444m) you can walk to Khonoma, trek to Dzukou Valley and drive to Kisama Heritage Village in a day. Ecotone's Kohima-based guides connect all three with village stays, not hotels.
Dzukou Valley — the bowl above the clouds

Khonoma — Asia's first green village
20km west of Kohima. Declared village sanctuary KNCTS (27 sq km), home to Blyth's Tragopan. Terraced alder farming, fort ruins, 200-year-old morungs. Stay in a family homestay, walk the fields, hear the war story of the last Naga stand. Read Khonoma village guide.
Kisama Heritage Village & Hornbill Festival
12km south of Kohima, 10 morungs (one per tribe). Hornbill Dec 1-10 is the Festival of Festivals — dance, chilli-eating, rock, crafts, food. Off-season Kisama is still worth a half-day: gates, museum, Jöpu. Our Hornbill Festival 2026 planning guide covers tickets, stays and day flow.
